The PTO is proud to announce the launch of our yearly PARP Program (Parents as Reading Partners). Our theme this year is "Reading is Out of this World - Book to the Future."

PARP is a reading program designed to encourage parents and guardians to read with their children for at least fifteen minutes a day, five to seven days a week, for four weeks.  The PARP 2010 event kicks off on January 8th. Each child will receive a packet containing the following:

  • PARP contract (sign and return by Jan. 11th),
  • Weekly Logs - keep track of number of minutes you and your child read each day. Submit your completed log each Friday, starting Jan. 15th.
  • Passport - a sticker chart for students up to 2nd grade. Each teacher will add a sticker to the passports of the students who have completed at 15 minutes of reading for at least 5 days. Grades 3-6 will receive other incentives after each week.
  • A Calendar of up coming PARP events. Available for download here.
  • A Book Swap during the week of Jan. 19- Jan 25. Download details here.
  • Classroom readers - parents or family members are invited to be guest readers in their child's class. Dates and times to be confirmed by your child's teacher.

If we reach our reading goal of 50,000 minutes, our principal, Mrs. Kaplan, will do an amazing stunt.  This spectacular act is the reward to the students for their hard work.  The more you read the better chance we have of reaching our goal. Thank you for your PARPticipation!
